Subscription agreement with Heidelberg

Schumacher Packaging GmbH & Co. KG, one of Europe’s largest family-run packaging printers, with annual sales of approximately € 650 million, has signed a subscription contract with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) for its site in Forchheim (Bavaria). The company, which is “already a leader in productivity and technology in the corrugated and solid board packaging sector”, expects to significantly boost the productivity of sheetfed offset operations at its Bavarian site as a result of the move.

Lecta announces a price increase of Thermal papers for new orders, effective January 28, 2020. The increase will be around 8 to 10% in Thermal papers depending on country. According to Lecta, the price increase is unavoidable to offset the continuous increase in manufacturing and transport costs.

Contiweb announced that Vprint, a Belgian print provider with over 80 years of industrial experience, has invested in a Contiweb Ecocool dryer – its fourth Contiweb dryer to date – to improve the quality of its direct mail service. Joining three Contiweb Ecoweb dryers installed on web offset press lines, the Ecocool system is already proving to strengthen the company’s competitive edge. Vprint customers operating in the retail, mail order and automotive markets have remarked on the improved finish of premium mailings.

A big leap forward

Thanks to a new Pantera perfect binder from Muller Martini Green Graphic ApS, located in the Danish city of Ikast, has tripled its softcover volume – and reduced staff costs at the same time. The family company, headed by Bent and Poul Sörensen, can now produce all softcover products in-house, and it now takes on orders for third parties. Because the Pantera replaced two perfect binders from another manufacturer last spring, despite the increased volume Green Graphic needs fewer employees for its new line, which has a 12-station gathering machine, a Granit three-knife trimmer and a Uno counter stacker.

Eckenfelder goes digital with Kodak Nexfinity

KG for several weeks.
