CEPI: Preliminary Statistics 2011 now available

After the recovery in 2010 following the previous financial downturn, the indications are that paper and board production by CEPI member countries fell in 2011 by close to 2% as the momentum of the revival was affected by the economic slowdown, particularly in the second half of the year.

With overall volumes continuing to remain some way below pre-crisis levels it is estimated that CEPI member countries produced around 95 million t of paper and board in 2011. Most grades are expected to show lower annual production levels in comparison to 2010.

It is estimated that the production of pulp has decreased by less than 1%, after a rise of over 8% the previous year, with total output of approximately 39 million t.
It is estimated that utilisation of paper for recycling by CEPI members fell by about 1.5%. Based on the cumulative data up to the end of the third quarter of 2011 it is expected that total paper deliveries for the year will have fallen by around 1% when compared to 2010.

The CEPI 2011 Preliminary Statistics Report is now available on the CEPI website, and can be downloaded by clicking on the following link:
