Mondi Grünburg inaugurates cutting-edge sheetfed offset technology from Koenig & Bauer

Last year, the Mondi Group announced an investment in new press equipment for its plant in Grünburg near Linz, Austria. Its aim is to further strengthen the company’s standing on the Austrian market as a fully integrated supplier of both flexo and offset corrugated packaging solutions. The new sheetfed offset press, a six-colour Rapida 164 with inline coater (max. sheet format 1,205 x 1,640 mm, production speeds up to 16,000 sheets) represents the latest state of the art.

Navigator takes part in Graphispag

The Navigator Company will again be present at Graphispag, trade fair for the printing industry, held in Barcelona from 24 to 27 May, together with Hispack, the largest packaging trade fair in the Iberian Peninsula. The event will feature over 400 exhibitors and around 40,000 visitors are expected. The Company will be there with its latest brand of packaging paper – gKraft – in the spotlight, in addition to the other brands of uncoated printing papers, Soporset and Inaset.

Bobst rewards inventor employee for printing efficiency innovation

A Bobst employee has been recognized for groundbreaking new work around print efficiency: Fred Rostalski, an Engineer at Bobst Bielefeld GmbH, received the Bobst Inventor Award for the “Method for determining print parameters of a print machine and test stand” (Smart GPS 2.0) which was granted in 2021.

New products for digital printing

Printing ink manufacturer Zeller+Gmelin GmbH & Co. KG, which specializes in radiation-curing ink systems for offset and flexographic printing, is expanding its portfolio with UV-curing and water-based solutions for inkjet printing. The decision to expand, made in 2019, is aimed at securing the future of the Zeller+Gmelin brand as a global manufacturer of printing inks in the segments of labels and packaging as well as molded parts and metal decoration. To this end, inkjet specialists were added to the existing team with its profound knowledge of ink formulation. At the same time, extensive investments were made in modern infrastructure for research and development as well as production. In addition, a printing laboratory dedicated for the inkjet process was set up.

Stora Enso divests its packaging operations in Russia

Stora Enso has divested its three corrugated packaging plants in Russia. The Company’s Lukhovitsy, Arzamas and Balabanovo packaging plants have been divested to local management. Stora Enso’s assessment is that due to the uncertainties in the Russian market, local ownership and operation will provide a more sustainable long-term solution for these businesses and their respective employees.
