90% of the world's banknotes are “Swiss”

The vast majority of the world's banknotes is produced using Swiss technology. Just like the special inks produced by SICPA, the sophisticated presses and all the related solutions (printing plate production, design, quality control, etc.) are developed in Lausanne by Koenig & Bauer Banknote Solutions (K&B Banknote Solutions) and then made available to Central Banks and private printers for the production of their banknotes. This year, the company is celebrating 70 years of existence and presence in Lausanne.

Sibress launches new FADS3D flexo plate measuring device

Market introduction: Kodak Prosper 7000 Turbo Press

Kodak has unveiled the Prosper 7000 Turbo Press at its inkjet facility in Dayton, Ohio. The new inkjet web press uses Kodak Stream Inkjet Technology offering printing speeds of up to 410 mpm (1,345 fpm) or up to 5,523 A4 ppm, which is “almost 35% faster than its nearest competitor”. It enables commercial, publishing and newspaper printers to compete more effectively with offset and to shift more long run jobs from conventional printing processes to inkjet.

Very high demand for trials for sustainable packaging papers

One year ago, Voith started up a modern pilot coater in its Technology Center in Heidenheim, Germany, after an extensive rebuild. Since then, the demand for pilot trials for coated and sized paper grades has increased enormously. In particular, barrier coatings for sustainable packaging papers are being explored by numerous customers from countries around the world. Together with the other pilot machines, all production steps throughout the entire papermaking process are covered – from stock preparation to coating and calendering.

Asahi appoints Emmanuel Mougenot as International Sales Manager

Asahi Photoproducts announced that experienced flexographic professional Emmanuel Mougenot is joining the company as International Sales Manager, responsible for managing sales and distributor resources in Benelux, France, Spain, and other countries to be determined moving forward. Mougenot has a strong background in sales in the world of flexography, including ten years working with the TKM Group, a provider of doctor blades for flexography, culminating in his appointment as Managing Director. He subsequently joined Dantex, a distributor of flexo plates and other products, where he served as Sales Manager for seven years.
