Miraclon receives FTA Technical Innovation Award for PureFlexo™ Printing

Miraclon has received the prestigious FTA Technical Innovation Award for PureFlexo Printing. Accessed through Kodak Flexcel NX Print Suite, the technology addresses and controls unwanted ink spread to allow a wider operating window in printing - maximizing efficiency, repeatability and overall performance on press. As one of only three Technical Innovation Award recipients, and the only recipient in the Prepress Graphics Category, it underscores the significant impact that PureFlexo Printing can make – and has already been making – in driving increased uptime for converters.

Sappi: Sale of three paper mills to Aurelius Group failed

Sappi Limited announced today that the intended sale to Aurelius Group of its Maastricht Mill in the Netherlands, its Stockstadt Mill in Germany and its Kirkniemi Mill in Finland has not materialised within the agreed timeframe of the contractual agreement and therefore the agreement has lapsed.

LED curing set to take the spotlight for 2023, says Flint Group

2023 is shaping up to be the year of conversion to LED curing for label and narrow web packaging printers, says global print consumables manufacturer, Flint Group. The business notes a drive towards LED curing over traditional UV methods and believes that while the adoption of LED has been slow and steady, market conditions, the cost of energy, and the evolving regulatory landscape is indicating an uptick in the rate of adoption – particularly in Europe.

Koenig & Bauer showcases large-format sheetfed offset at Print China

Koenig & Bauer has booked a stand measuring more than 1,000 m2 at the 5th International Printing Technology Exhibition of China (Print China), which is to be held in Guangdong from 11 to 15 April. The stand will showcase a Rapida 145 with five printing units, inline coater and extended delivery. It is the only sheetfed offset press for large formats up to 1,060 × 1,450 mm on show at the fair.

Avis-Tryk invests in continent newspaper press

The Danish printing group Erritsø Tryk is preparing an expansion of the printing capacity at their printing house Avis-Tryk, with a Continent newspaper press from Koenig & Bauer at its Hornslet plant as a replacement for an older competitor press. Morten Rasmussen, CEO, and Hakan Runden, sales and service director at Koenig & Bauer DK, are pleased to announce the arrival of “yet another Koenig & Bauer press in Denmark, which will further strengthen the leading position of Koenig & Bauer on the Scandinavian newspaper press market.”

CCE International, InPrint Munich and ICE Europe draw to a successful close

From 14 - 16 March ICE Europe, CCE International, and InPrint Munich took place at the Munich Trade Fair Centre, offering attendees three full days of flourishing business opportunities, ranging from bespoke product sourcing, industry-specific educational forums, all the way to networking and investment opportunities. Throughout the shows, a total of 6,944 trade visitors from 78 countries came to Munich to discover the latest machinery, systems, materials, and accessories, which is an increase of some 23 % in visitor numbers compared to the previous event editions in 2022. Shaping the future of the corrugated, industrial print and converting industry, 438 exhibitors from 24 countries showcased their products and services on a net exhibition space of more than 11,300 square metres.

Koenig & Bauer demonstrates credentials as a one-stop supplier for folding carton production

From 21 to 24 March, Koenig & Bauer Iberica opened the doors of its new manufacturing location in Gavà (Barcelona) to existing and prospective customers from the folding carton industry. More than 90 branch professionals from 15 countries accepted the invitation to attend a series of Technology Days under the motto: “Transforming Your Post-Press with Koenig & Bauer”. They were, at the same time, among the first people to be given first-hand insights into the new premises occupied by the Koenig & Bauer die-cutting specialists since they relocated last year. They were able to experience both the modernised facilities and the new production processes in flat-bed die-cutter manufacture for themselves.

Producing perfect books fully automatically

Tisk Centrum in Moravany u Brna has underpinned its position in the Czech book market with the commissioning of an FN 700 fold down press and a Ribbon inserting machine from Muller Martini. The graphic arts company, which was founded in 1995 and employs 80 people, mainly prints and produces books – hardcovers as well as softcovers. For many years, Tisk Centrum has relied mainly on Muller Martini solutions: in perfect binding on a Pantera, in hardcover production on an RF 700 backgluing and backlining machine and a BF 513 bookline, in a Granit three-knife trimmer and in thread sewing on a system from another machine manufacturer.
