Mondi invests in FunctionalBarrier Paper Ultimate

Mondi is investing €16 million in new technology to produce a new packaging range called FunctionalBarrier Paper Ultimate. This ultra-high barrier paper-based solution for food meets growing customer demand for sustainable packaging that contributes to a circular economy. The new addition expands Mondi’s existing portfolio of FunctionalBarrier Papers providing high-barrier paper-based packaging for food products such as dried foods and powdered milk as well as for applications in the home and personal care industry.

Web offset and LED UV breakthrough technology successfully combined at Bradford & Bigelow

Manroland Goss successfully completes installation of a new press line for the full-service book printing company Bradford & Bigelow of Massachusetts, USA. After having relied on manroland Goss presses in the past, the book printer, once again, decided on a customized Lithoman IV from Augsburg. What is new is that the press prints high-quality UV inks and is equipped with a powerful LED UV dryer. This means that the Lithoman IV is also impressive in terms of energy efficiency.

Bobst reveals its Innovation Award winners for 2023

Bobst has presented its annual Inventor Awards, given to innovators and their patents within the business that have pushed the boundaries of technology to enhance print and packaging workflows for customers. For 2023, Bobst has issued two awards for the first time. The main Inventor Award has been presented to Patrice Chatry and Maude Steiner, inventors of the Non-Stop with Automatic Swords Selection innovation, while a Special Jury Award has been presented to Rene Heinze, inventor of an intermediate dryer in particular for rotary printing presses.

Model AG invested in a new Chroma X Pro 2100 by Koenig & Bauer Celmacch

Model AG placed an order with Koenig & Bauer Celmacch for a Chroma X Pro machine, with a working width of 2,100 mm and 7 printing units. The new line will be delivered in Summer 2024 and installed at the Weinfelden plant in Switzerland.

Packaging machines: Total turnover rises to €8.53 billion

The automatic packing and packaging machines industry marks a historic milestone: in 2022, the industry recorded a total turnover of €8.537 billion, improving the previous record set in 2021 by 3.6%. Considering the 2019-2022 period overall, the industry's turnover has grown by approximately half a billion euros in just 4 years, recording the uptrend despite the outbreak of the pandemic and its adverse impacts worldwide.
