Domino to unveil next generation full colour digital label press at Labelexpo 2013

Domino will use Labelexpo Europe 2013 for the worldwide launch of its next generation full colour digital ink jet label press. The new addition to the N-Series range signifies a further step forward in the evolution of advanced digital ink jet for label production.

This latest offering will deliver maximum productivity benefits, greater variable data printing and colour capabilities and the highest definition output for an even wider range of applications. Visitors can see this latest technology for the first time in a series of live demonstrations on the stand (9F70) including integration into a working AB Graphics Digicon finishing line as well as a separate stand-alone press. An integrated AVT quality inspection system will also be on display.

Building on the success of its N600i four colour digital ink jet solution, Domino’s new label press, which will be unveiled for the first time at Labelexpo Europe, will include cutting edge technology combining the productivity of flexo with the flexibility of digital printing. In addition, the new, modular solution will ultimately provide advanced colour capabilities to deliver a much wider colour gamut to suit a greater range of label applications.

As with the N600i, the next generation solution will also incorporate a range of Domino’s unique i-Tech intelligent Technology productivity-enhancing smart features designed to optimise printer performance and maintain the highest levels of productivity. These include Domino’s CleanCap automated cleaning and capping station and StitchLink micro-motor controller technology that enables precise head alignment, reduces set up time and eliminates stitch lines. The new press will also include the ActiFlow ink circulation system that degasses the ink for greater nozzle performance.

This new edition to the Domino portfolio will be joined on the Domino stand at Labelexpo Europe by the K600i single colour high resolution VDP printer, which will be integrated onto a rewinder. The single colour K600i print solution is designed to integrate digital variable data 600dpi print within existing sheet, web-fed presses and finishing lines and benefits from the inclusion of Domino’s productivity-enhancing i-Tech smart features. Key to the appeal of the K600i is its ability to accommodate different print widths ranging from 108mm (4.26”) to 558mm (21.97”). This scalability is achieved by mounting a series of stitched print heads across a bar to cover the full width of the press or finishing line.

All of Domino’s latest digital ink jet solutions on display at Labelexpo 2013 achieve production speeds of up to 75 metres (246ft) per minute, double the speed of most high resolution digital systems. Says Philip Easton, Director of Domino’s Digital Printing Business; “Key to the success of our latest product portfolio is the ability to draw on our long and established understanding of ink jet technology that spans some 35 years. This combined with our ongoing commitment to R&D enables Domino to continually break new boundaries in terms of technological development to deliver the most reliable and productive solutions designed to fulfil real production needs.”

Domino is also a participating sponsor of the Digital Technology Workshops that will be taking place during Labelexpo Europe 2013. This will offer visitors a ‘first hand’ opportunity to see label production in action and experience the high quality output and productivity of Domino’s digital ink jet label press.
