Belgian automation expert Pragmeta rejoins Ghent Workgroup

The Ghent Workgroup (GWG) is pleased to announce that Pragmeta, the Belgian automation expert specializing in PDF, standardization, automation, and connectivity for print-oriented businesses, has rejoined the Ghent Workgroup. The GWG was founded with a strong focus on the immediate usability of the best practices and specifications it creates, and members such as Pragmeta are essential to that vision.

Peter Claes, owner of Pragmeta, has been involved with the GWG since its early days and has witnessed the shifts in our industry: “We are at a pivotal inflection point. The transition from desktop publishing to online publishing is not simply a technological shift – it is a structural transformation of the graphic arts industry. The rise of platforms such as Canva and Adobe Express signals a democratization of content creation. This is not a threat to our industry; it is an expansion of it. The real opportunity lies in how we, as professionals, evolve our expertise to bring control, quality, and scalability to this new wave of creation.”

The GWG develops tools such as workflow testing suites, online video materials, and hands-on user guides to help print professionals adapt to industry changes and achieve the highest levels of print quality and customer satisfaction. Peter continues, “The specifications and best practices developed by the GWG are becoming increasingly critical for ensuring consistency, reliability, and efficiency in PDF creation and processing, especially as content is generated across a broader and less specialized ecosystem.”

Dave Zwang, Chair of the Ghent Workgroup, agrees: “The vision of the GWG is to provide the building blocks that help people navigate the transformation of our industry. Our members are essential to delivering that support. Vendor members incorporate our guidelines into their software and hardware solutions, while educational institutions teach future generations entering our field. Industry members such as Pragmeta contribute by guiding print professionals to optimize workflows and increase the efficiency and profitability of print businesses.”
