Birkan takes over DACH distribution of TyreF coating plates
Founded in 2007, TyreF has developed into an internationally recognised manufacturer of coating plates for the printing industry within just a few years. The range includes coating plates in various thicknesses and with different application focuses as well as underpacking blankets and special printing blankets. The coating plates developed by TyreF and produced in Arco in northern Italy are adapted to the diverse and specific requirements of the packaging industry and commercial printing.
FlexoControl manufacturer Sibress looks back on a successful drupa
Sibress, manufacturer of measuring and analysis systems for the quality control of flexographic and packaging printing, achieved encouraging sales of its FlexoControl series measuring devices at drupa 2024 and in the weeks that followed. The FlexoControl 3D Plus device aroused particular interest among drupa attendees. It is the only plate measuring device that simultaneously captures the surface as well as the deeper areas of halftone dots and their base support on the flexo plate from the side and displays both views side by side on the computer screen. Two cameras capture the surface and flanks (slope) of the printing elements. The side camera captures the entire image area in razor-sharp detail.

Mondi has completed its €125 million investment in the Kuopio containerboard mill. It includes upgrades to the wood yard, fibre line, evaporation plant, and paper machine producing ProVantage Powerflute®, a high-performance fluting predominantly used in fresh fruit and vegetable trays and boxes.

Incoming orders at Heidelberg recover thanks to successful drupa – short-time working to end in June
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) is very pleased with its showing at the drupa trade fair in Düsseldorf. The company’s stand attracted a great deal of interest from customers around the world, who also invested in the innovations on show. The large number of orders placed during the event has led to a recovery in incoming orders at Heidelberg at the start of financial year 2024/2025 and, consequently, to higher capacity utilization in production. Short time working at the German sites will end as early as June 2024.

Heidelberg planning to extend Boardmaster applications to growth segment of flexible paper
Following the successful market launch of the Boardmaster, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) is planning to extend the range of applications for this new inline flexographic web printing system to flexible paper packaging in the medium term. “The global increase in demand for sustainably produced, budget-friendly, and recyclable or compostable packaging makes flexible paper an attractive growth market for us,” says Christian Steinmassl, who is in charge of the Packaging segment at Heidelberg.
BW Converting launches its mission-led rebranding
In a world where the only constant is change, BW Converting is set to make it a positive one. At drupa in Düsseldorf, BW Converting – formerly BW Converting Solutions – has launched an updated branding identity on the heels of incorporating print and industrial technology company Baldwin into its roster – a portfolio that already includes heavyweights Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC) and Winkler+Dünnebier (W+D), as well as Hudson-Sharp, STAX Technologies and Northern Engraving and Machine Company.
