Heubach GmbH filed an application today for the opening of regular insolvency proceedings over its assets with the competent insolvency court in Braunschweig and, at the same time, applied for the jurisdiction of the Braunschweig insolvency court as the group court for the German subgroup of the Heubach Group. The court is expected to appoint an insolvency administrator to examine the possibility of continuing business operations and possible options for restructuring and/or selling the business in due course.
German SMEs are suffering a massive skills and workforce shortage – a fact highlighted by a representative survey among SME decision-makers that the F.A.Z. Institute conducted for Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg). According to this survey, nine out of ten German SMEs do not have enough staff. Just under half (49 percent) said they were badly or very badly affected by the skills and workforce shortage.

Miraclon and Bobst have reinforced their strategic partnership, with Miraclon named as the plate technology partner in Bobst’s new Competence Center in Atlanta. Officially opening this week, the center is home to a Flexcel NX System and Flexcel NX Ultra Processing Solution to support Bobst’s goal to produce plates that maximize the performance of their presses.
Jürgen Otto (59, photo) will become the new CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) on July 1, 2024. He succeeds Dr. Ludwin Monz, who will resign from his position as Chairman of the Management Board at his own request and in agreement with the Supervisory Board. At the end of June 30, 2024, Monz will step down from the Management Board of Heidelberg. The Supervisory Board passed a resolution to this effect on April 19, 2024.
Paper Machine 1 (PM1), which specialises in the production of security papers, has been operating with a new film press since February. The €1.9 million investment replaced the existing size press. The planning and realisation of this project took 12 months in total.
