Durst restructures textile printing segment22.01.2020

Durst, manufacturer of advanced digital printing and production technologies, has restructured its segment for industrial textile printing. The new segment manager, Dr. Stefan Kappaun, has responsibility for the strategic direction in home textiles, clothing and accessories. Dr. Kappaun also will be the connecting link to the Large Format Segment, which takes over soft signage and fabrics in the portfolio.

Mimaki to premiere latest innovations at C!Print16.01.2020

Mimaki Europe, manufacturer of inkjet printers and cutting systems, announced that it will exhibit its broad portfolio of cutting-edge digital print technologies at Salon C!Print (4 – 6 February, Lyon, France). This will include the first showing in France of the company’s brand-new SWJ-320EA large format solvent printer, JFX200-2513 EX large flatbed UV inkjet printer and two models of the recently launched Plus series.

Digital large-format printing, brilliant colours, iridescent foil effects for interior design, innovations in textile finishing and even a global premiere graced Europe’s Trade Show for Visual Communication in Düsseldorf. The concept focusing on interactive experiences plus the innovative layout went down well with both exhibitors and trade visitors alike. The high quality of conversations and number of business deals closed, however, could not hide the fact that attendance levels were down on last year. With 7,160 visitors roughly the same number attended as in 2017.

Vogtland Kartonagen boosts efficiency14.01.2020

It could be said that Vogtland Kartonagen from Reichenbach in Eastern Germany already foresaw Koenig & Bauer’s recent activities and company acquisitions relating to the packaging market many years ago. The company has been using die-cutting equipment from Iberica since 1998. The original purchase was replaced with a newer model in 2005. One year later, the first folder-gluer from Duran was installed. In the meantime, both suppliers have been integrated into the Koenig & Bauer Group. Alongside these developments, large-format sheetfed offset presses from Koenig & Bauer have been the printing machines of choice since 2002.

New Agfa engine increases profitability10.01.2020

Scunthorpe sign maker A Signs has invested in Agfa’s new Anapurna H1650i LED print engine and, just 10 months on, is enjoying increased profitability due to improved efficiencies. A Signs, established in 1998, produce a wide variety of signage, from external building signs, internal health & safety signs, vehicle wraps, exhibition display boards to more latterly huge pieces of wall art for its broad client base. The owner, Shaun Fisher, was looking to invest in a new print engine to speed up production time and reduce costs enabling him take on more work and increase efficiencies.

Kornit Digital for direct-to-garment printing03.01.2020

Kornit Digital, a worldwide actor in digital textile printing technology, announced that Textil del Valle South America, a vertically integrated garment manufacturing company based in Peru, has chosen to implement Kornit’s digital direct-to-garment (DTG) printing technology at its 1.1 million-square-foot facility in Lima, Peru. Textil del Valle services many of the world’s most prominent apparel brands, including global leaders in sports and athleisurewear.

Koenig & Bauer captivates printers in China12.12.2019

The roadshow which took place in mid-November was already the 12th in a series of tours visiting print professionals all over China. More than 800 experts took the opportunity to attend events in Xian, Kunming, Shanghai, Shijiazhuang and Fuzhou, where they were able to pick up the latest information on all aspects of modern print production, with a focus on sheetfed offset technologies and full-process solutions for packaging production, as well as innovative special applications and digitalisation. The five venues were chosen to cover as much of the country as possible.

First Ultrastream powered press sold11.12.2019

Kodak is introducing its Ultrastream technology in the new Uteco Sapphire EVO W, the first flexible packaging press to enter the market using Kodak’s latest continuous inkjet technology. The first Ultrastream system with a print width of 1.25 meters has been sold into the market in advance of its expected debut at drupa 2020 in Dusseldorf, Germany with a healthy pipeline of active prospects. The wide format of the new Sapphire EVO W allows brands to leverage digital printing in their traditional flexographic print formats.

Greenguard Gold for UV LED inkjet ink sets28.11.2019

Agfa has announced that its Anuvia 1250/1551 and Anapurna 1200/1501 UV LED inkjet inks sets for sign & display printing received the Greenguard Gold certification in recognition of their environmental friendliness. The Greenguard certification is granted to products that meet some of the world’s most rigorous chemical emissions standards, helping to reduce indoor air pollution and the risk of chemical exposure. The Greenguard Gold standard includes health-based criteria for more than 360 VOCs and also requires lower total VOC emission levels to ensure that the products are acceptable for use in sensitive indoor environments like schools and healthcare facilities.

London-based silkscreen printer Make-Ready has been relying on Nazdar inks, supplied by Screentec Print Essentials, to deliver stunning commissions from artists and art galleries across the UK. Formed in 2017, Make-Ready provides a consultancy-driven silkscreen printing service that utilises a variety of oil-based and water-based ink systems, often bringing several inks together in a single project to achieve the best results. Each project is taken through the company's careful proofing process - whether it is an artist edition or a one-off original artwork - and every variable is investigated to ensure an artwork is correctly interpreted as a silkscreen.

Successful commissioning of the first HP PageWide T1190 Press to be installed in Asia. Rengo Co., Ltd, a Japanese packaging supplier, celebrated the start of production with a grand ceremony in August. This was also the first time that the “widest digital printing press in the world” had been supplied in a six-colour version. “We are very satisfied with our press. The cooperation with HP and Koenig & Bauer was absolutely flawless. And since the commissioning, the press has been fulfilling all our prior expectations in terms of performance,” says Junjiro Watanabe, general manager for technical development at Rengo.

At InPrint 2019, inkjet ink expert Agfa and laminate manufacturer Unilin will show how the combination of water-based primers and inkjet inks delivers a breakthrough for digital production printing of laminate flooring and furniture. Unilin and Agfa joined forces to investigate the feasibility of deploying inkjet printing for high-volume, high-speed production printing of decor paper used for laminate flooring and furniture.
