The newly founded Spanish company Mimmetic was set up to implement a business plan built around use of a new RotaJet 225 press for decor printing. Mimmetic is a subsidiary of the Losán Group, one of the largest manufacturers of wood-based products in Spain. “With our new RotaJet from Koenig & Bauer, we are preparing to enter the market for decor printing. We believe in Digital Printing and we think that in the decor market, a new reality is possible. Given the specific market demands which apply in this segment, for example fast time-to-market production, individualized decors and short runs, we are certain that this press will secure the success of our business,” says Jonathan Caballero, Senior Manager at Mimmetic.

The high quality of conversations and number of business deals closed, however, could not hide the fact that attendance levels were down on last year. With 7,160 visitors roughly the same number attended as in 2017.

It could be said that Vogtland Kartonagen from Reichenbach in Eastern Germany already foresaw Koenig & Bauer’s recent activities and company acquisitions relating to the packaging market many years ago. The company has been using die-cutting equipment from Iberica since 1998. The original purchase was replaced with a newer model in 2005. One year later, the first folder-gluer from Duran was installed. In the meantime, both suppliers have been integrated into the Koenig & Bauer Group. Alongside these developments, large-format sheetfed offset presses from Koenig & Bauer have been the printing machines of choice since 2002.

Scunthorpe sign maker A Signs has invested in Agfa’s new Anapurna H1650i LED print engine and, just 10 months on, is enjoying increased profitability due to improved efficiencies. A Signs, established in 1998, produce a wide variety of signage, from external building signs, internal health & safety signs, vehicle wraps, exhibition display boards to more latterly huge pieces of wall art for its broad client base. The owner, Shaun Fisher, was looking to invest in a new print engine to speed up production time and reduce costs enabling him take on more work and increase efficiencies.

Altana CO₂ neutral by 202510.01.2020

By 2025 the specialty chemicals group Altana will reduce its CO2 impact from production and energy procurement worldwide to zero. Already in 2020, the company’s entire power supply will be converted to renewable energies. Altana will compensate for the unavoidable use of natural gas until 2025 by financing equivalent climate protection projects in the regions where CO2 emissions are generated. The same applies to offsetting CO2 emissions arising from necessary business trips, company cars, and the transport of goods. The specialty chemicals group will thus achieve climate neutrality in its direct sphere of influence by 2025.

The European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) announced that Chris Yates will adopt the role of President of the EMVA effective from the 1st January 2020. Müroll GmbH invests in their first Nilpeter FA-2209.12.2019

Müroll GmbH, manufacturer of adhesive tape, has invested in the company’s first Nilpeter FA-22. Müroll GmbH is based in Frastanz, Austria, and has an additional two European production sites. The MailLiner optimizes insert sets29.11.2019

In order to optimize its insert sets, in terms of both quality and the amount of time required to produce them, Werbedienst Krüger GmbH, located in the southern German city of Tübingen, put a MailLiner direct marketing system into operation this fall. Before commissioning the Muller Martini system, the company had delivery personnel assemble around 350,000 sets of inserts it produced each week, most of which came from the food industry, home improvement stores and furniture chains. As Wolfgang Krüger, the CEO of the company, which was founded in 1985 and employs 35 people, notes, it was becoming increasingly difficult to find delivery personnel, so he switched to machine gathering.

Agfa has announced that its Anuvia 1250/1551 and Anapurna 1200/1501 UV LED inkjet inks sets for sign & display printing received the Greenguard Gold certification in recognition of their environmental friendliness. The Greenguard certification is granted to products that meet some of the world’s most rigorous chemical emissions standards, helping to reduce indoor air pollution and the risk of chemical exposure. The Greenguard Gold standard includes health-based criteria for more than 360 VOCs and also requires lower total VOC emission levels to ensure that the products are acceptable for use in sensitive indoor environments like schools and healthcare facilities.

First, the company – which was founded in 1917, closed by the Communists in 1947 and restarted as a traditional graphic company in 1990 – increased the efficiency of its softcover production. Second, the new perfect binder, which has a 20-station ZU 805 gathering machine, a 153.M three-knife trimmer and a KL 501 book stacker, also allows the company to prepare book blocks for hardcover production on a Muller Martini Diamant MC 60 bookline.

Rengo Co., Ltd, a Japanese packaging supplier, celebrated the start of production with a grand ceremony in August. This was also the first time that the “widest digital printing press in the world” had been supplied in a six-colour version. “We are very satisfied with our press. The cooperation with HP and Koenig & Bauer was absolutely flawless. Gallus celebrates sold Labelmaster No. 10006.11.2019

Gallus, a subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg), celebrated a milestone at Labelexpo Europe 2019 : the Gallus Labelmaster No. 100 is being installed at the printing company Interfas, based in Louviers, France. The conventional press with a printing width of 440 mm is equipped with eight flexographic printing units and three die-cutting units. Cold foil finishing is integrated, too. It is the first Gallus Labelmaster and the first flexo press for Interfas, which has previously relied exclusively on label production with offset printing.
