Second, the new perfect binder, which has a 20-station ZU 805 gathering machine, a 153.M three-knife trimmer and a KL 501 book stacker, also allows the company to prepare book blocks for hardcover production on a Muller Martini Diamant MC 60 bookline.

Gallus celebrates sold Labelmaster No. 10006.11.2019

Gallus, a subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg), celebrated a milestone at Labelexpo Europe 2019 : the Gallus Labelmaster No. 100 is being installed at the printing company Interfas, based in Louviers, France. The conventional press with a printing width of 440 mm is equipped with eight flexographic printing units and three die-cutting units. Cold foil finishing is integrated, too. It is the first Gallus Labelmaster and the first flexo press for Interfas, which has previously relied exclusively on label production with offset printing.

Merck expands pigments production10.10.2019

Merck is significantly expanding its global production capacities and optimizing its manufacturing processes for effect pigments. Around 750 employees work at the Gernsheim site, which is also home to Merck's pigment production facility. The new facilities will significantly increase production capacities for silicon dioxide flakes, a special substrate for a whole range of unique effect pigments. Merck celebrated the topping out of the new production facility, a traditional ceremony marking the placement of the last beam in a structure, in Gernsheim end of last month. The investment of 28 million Euro is part of a series of initiatives to further expand the pigments business of Merck.

Tosho Printing in Kawagoe near Tokyo has been the proud owner of two Rapida 106 presses for four years now. One of those presses, a five-colour configuration with LED-UV drying, recently set a new record for the number of job changes in a single shift. Over the course of 11.5 hours, 130 jobs were printed with an average run length of 270 sheets. That is equivalent to over 11 jobs per hour. This outstanding achievement earned a special commendation for the company’s press operators from Koenig & Bauer.
