Visitor record at European Sign Expo

European Sign Expo 2019, the dedicated event for non-printed signage and visual communications has continued its year-on-year growth achieving record visitor numbers to its seventh edition, which took place in Munich, Germany from 14 to 17 May. 10,168 visitors attended European Sign Expo 2019, including sign-makers who travelled to the Bavarian capital specifically for the event, as well as those who also attended the co-located FESPA Global Print Expo.

“We’re a boutique printer with an online shop specializing in digital printing and finishing as well as enhancement options for short-to-medium runs,” says Ralph Hadem, Managing Director of Colour Connection GmbH, when prompted to sum up his company in a nutshell. Colour Connection, which employs 21 people at its Frankfurt site, generates 30% of its turnover and practically all new leads through its own website and shop, which was given a complete relaunch in 2018.

Esko ArtPro+ 18.1 passed critical test

The Ghent Workgroup is happy to announce that Esko ArtPro+ 18.1 has perfectly passed a critical test for determining quality displaying of PDF/X-4 documents and is now fully compliant with the Ghent PDF Output Suite 5. As the packaging print industry increasingly embraces PDF/X-4, Esko is supporting prepress professionals in this transition phase with its ArtPro+ software. The ArtPro+ software has now passed the compliancy test with the Ghent PDF Output Suite 5, processing all 48 test patches without any problems.

Faster and more diverse production

Thanks to a new Primera MC saddle stitcher, Drukkerij Van der Poorten NV in the Belgian city of Leuven has cut its setup times in half and expanded its product range. The old Prima Tandem is still available if needed, but a new era has begun at Van der Poorten with the new Primera MC. The saddle stitcher, which has eight flat pile feeders, a cover feeder, a Perfetto compensating stacker and an interface for exchanging data between the Primera MC and the Perfetto, is the answer to increasingly smaller print runs.

Manroland Goss: First joint press relocation

Modern Arab Establishment for Printing and Publishing with its headquarters in Cairo opted for a used Rotoman press that is now going to be moved from Bechtle Druck, Germany, all the way to Egypt. For the relocation and implementation, the Egyptian printer chose GWS Printing Systems (GWS) and manroland Goss as their preferred partners.

First Heidelberg Primefire 106 in Japan

Kyoshin Paper and Package decided to choose Heidelberg Primefire 106 as their next digital press to expand their web-to-pack business on top of the traditional packaging business by signing a contract of the first Primefire 106 in Japan in April 2019. Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will install the digital printing system in Kyoshin Paper and Package´s brand-new Kanto plant in summer this year.

Fujifilm Specialty Ink Systems has today unveiled Uvijet OX – its latest high performance ink set developed exclusively for use with the new Inca Digital Onset X HS UV flatbed series. Building on the success of Fujifilm’s highly successful multi-purpose OW ink range, the Uvijet OX ink will initially be available as a six colour CMYK Lc Lm set, and will enable the new Onset X HS to print on an extensive range of rigid plastic media at high speed with maximum adhesion, cure speed and quality; helping to open up new markets for this range of printers.

Bobst and Mouvent at Labelexpo 2019
