DG press MachineS reveals development new web offset press for package printing

After a period of strong growth DG press MachineS, a sister company of DG press ServiceS announces the development of a new web offset press for package printing carrying the name Thallo.

More than ten years of experience with manufacturing and refurbishing sleeve type offset presses, and feedback from end-users in the field has led to the decision of taking the sleeve technology in offset to the next level. “Many years of continuous dialogue between us and end-users has initiated the need for an improved concept. There is an incredible potential for offset in packaging, but a limited amount of feasible offerings on the market,” says director Peter Kloppers.

The development of the Thallo holds key innovations to address the challenges and limitations that hold back mainstream use of web offset by package printers. “We look forward to showcasing a concept printing deck at LabelExpo 2013 in Brussels and continue the dialogue with the market.”

The sleeve technology in offset, pioneered by Drent Goebel ten years ago allows you to work with variable sizes in offset. The sleeve technology lets you easily change sizes without having to completely change the unit or cassette; a very cost-effective way of printing different repeat lengths. The Thallo combines sleeve offset technology with the right price/performance ratio and rectifies a technology switch for the current flexo and rotogravure package printers.

DG press MachineS holds the critical engineers that were responsible for the development of this technology and has started developments of a next generation press in the range of 520 – 850 – 1050 webwidth.
